The great dream of the Venezuelan National Team is to qualify for the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Mexico and Canada, if it achieves this it would be the first in its history. Those of Bocha Batista are doing well and last Thursday they achieved an extremely valuable draw against Brazil as a visitor. There is no doubt that this is the most prestigious Venezuelan National Team in its history.

One of the great figures of Vinotinto is Salomón Rondón, the River forward with a past in the Premier League. Without going any further, in the run-up to the match, the Millonario attacker – who has just scored against Boca and Talleres – was praised by none other than Casemiro, one of the most outstanding midfielders in the world of the last decade.

Brazil received Venezuela and took the lead five minutes into the second half thanks to a goal from Gabriel Magalhaes, but in the forty minutes Eduard Bello managed to equalize for Vinotino. After the goal of equality, in Venezuela they did not want to know anything more about continuing to play and, as usual, the players began to feel physical discomfort, to delay for everything. But in the last moments Rondón was seen with a very unusual action.

The River striker took the ball and without any sense, from inside the playing field he kicked it, like a goalkeeper’s kick, towards the stands. The intention was not only for the ball to disappear from the map, but also to create a commotion that would cause more time to be lost and that is what happened. Immediately, the Brazilian footballers went up in smoke.

With this tie, the Venezuelan National Team accumulates four units as a result of a victory, a draw and a loss. So far it is in sixth place and would be qualifying for a World Cup for the first time in its history. It should be remembered that by 2026 there will be more places for Conmebol qualifiers since the competition will have 48 teams. In South America, the first six qualify directly and the seventh goes to the playoffs.

What is coming up for the Venezuelan National Team in the remainder of 2023?

Those led by Bocha Batista know that they do not have much margin for error if they want to get into the 2026 World Cup and that they must get points against the rivals who will fight with them. Next Tuesday, from 6 p.m., they will face Chile as a local in what will be a transcendental match since the Chileans also have four units. In November it will be their turn to face Ecuador as a home team and Peru as a visitor.

The good present of Salomón Rondón in River

After a highly irregular first semester, in recent months we began to see the Salomón Rondón that River went looking for. A forward with a presence in the area, self-sacrificing, with a nose for goals and tough on rival defenders. Demichelis trusted him and gave him important minutes in this League Cup and he responded with important goals: He was the author of the goals in the victory against Atlético Tucumán and Talleres. On the other hand, he broke the scoreless score in the Bombonera in what ended up being a 2-0 victory.
