Lieshout – The youth team of Badminton Club Lieshout is having a hard time in the first phase of the completely newly designed competition of Badminton Netherlands. In category D, where the team is classified in department 28, the opponents are clearly too strong for the just starting Badminton players from Lieshout. Still, the team keeps their spirits up and tries to gain as much experience as possible.

The board of Badminton Club Lieshout would have liked to classify the youth in the gold class. Considering the playing strength, this class seemed the best for the youth who had just started. However, Badminton Netherlands has not yet completely abandoned the age division and has therefore linked age categories to the different classes. For that reason, the youth of Badminton Club Lieshout had to switch from the gold class to the much stronger category D one week before the start of the competition.

BCL-J1/BouwBaar Bouwmanagement – BVC’74-J1: 0-6
In the home match against the youth team of BVC’74 from Cuijk, Maud Steegs, Hilke Klomp and Asja Timmers did their best to resist the strong Cuijk opponents. In the doubles match that Hilke Klomp and Asja Timmers played against Avinaash Thillainadajeh and Rakesh Nalliah, they managed to score the most points. They reached 17 points in two sets: a performance that they could not match in the other matches.

BC Scarabee-J1 – BCL-J1/BouwBaar Bouwmanagement: 6-0
The youth team also had to do everything they could to score some points in the away match against the youth of BC Scarabee. Maud Steegs performed best in her singles match: she achieved 12 points. Together with Hilke Klomp, she managed to perform even better in the last doubles match: with 15 points, this was the match in which the Lieshout youth scored the highest.

BCL-J1/BouwBaar Bouwmanagement – FST-J2: 0-6
Things went very well against the Waalwijk youth team of FST. Asja Timmers managed to score 26 points in her single part and was quite close to a set win. Hilke Klomp and Maud Steegs also performed well in their doubles match. They lost only 13-21 and 17-21 to Tom Smits and Sonam Kamp. Match-by-match, the youth learn and gain experience that they can use in the next phase of the competition.
