Araucanía 2023: Athletes from Chile and Argentina to Compete in 30th Binational Games

????This is the thirtieth version that will be held in the Sub-headquarters of Bariloche, Cipolletti, Viedma, Choele Choel and Neuquén, Argentina. The competing disciplines are athletics, cycling, judo, basketball, volleyball, soccer and swimming.

A delegation of athletes made up of 198 people, including athletes, technicians, judges, delegates, officials and authorities, will travel to the Province of Río Negro, Argentina, to participate in the thirtieth version of the Araucanía 2023 Binational Games, which will take place between November 12 to 17.

The sub-venues of this binational competition are: Bariloche where women’s and men’s volleyball, women’s soccer and judo will take place; Cipolletti men’s football; Viedma basketball and cycling; Choele Choel swimming and Neuquén athletics.

The Seremi of Sports, Carolina Urrutia Soto, pointed out that

“This is an integration sports event between Chile and Argentina that brings together the best athletes from 15 to 19 years old, women and men, who will compete in the disciplines of athletics, soccer, volleyball, basketball, swimming, judo and cycling.”

The Regional Director (S) IND, Ernesto Villarroel Jaramillo, added that

“Athletes representing the Argentine provinces of La Pampa, Neuquén, Río Negro, Chubut, Santa Cruz and Tierra del Fuego and the Chilean regions of Ñuble, Bío-Bío, La Araucanía, Los Ríos, Los Lagos, Aysén and Magellan”.

It should be noted that the women’s athletics team is made up of Laura Bustamante, Isidora Catalán, María José Estévez, Javiera Kusch, Ayelén Riquelme, Amalia Teuber and Emilia Vidal de Osorno; Antonia Cárdenas and Martina París from Puerto Montt, Ángela Ojeda from Fresia, Sofía Ide from Puerto Varas; Pía Casanova from Ancud and Javiera Ríos from Quemchi.

While in men’s athletics the following will compete: Benjamín Márquez, Joaquín Ramírez and Martín Vera de Osorno; Diego Bustamante, Vicente Meyer, Santiago Montalva and Francisco Sierra de Puerto Varas; Camilo Cárdenas, Emiliano Muñoz, Héctor Schmauck, Klaus Scholz, Fernando Soto and Jesús Veracierta from Puerto Montt.

The representatives of judo in ladies are: Fernanda Saldivia in the -48 kilos category, Nayarett Mora in -52 kilos, Antonia Ortiz in -57 kilos, Pamela Maripan in -63 kilos, Catalina Martínez in -70 kilos and Franco González in -60 kilos, all from Osorno. Additionally, Carollain Quintana from Puacho- San Juan de la Costa at -78 kilos. The Puertomontian judokas will also travel: Samuel Barría in the -55 kilos category, Lukas Parada in -66 kilos, Edgardo Vargas in -73 kilos, Cristóbal Pérez in -81 kilos and Ian Carlos Loaiza in -90 kilos.

As for cycling, the regional teams are Rocío Guarda from Osorno, Constanza Flores, Constanza Gueicha and Blanca Valderas from Puerto Montt and Denisse Pérez from Achao. Meanwhile, in men, those classified are Vicente Cárdenas from Osorno, Martín Cárdenas, Bruno Muñoz, Benjamín Oñate and Agustín Téllez from Puerto Montt.

The athletes classified in women’s swimming are: Amanda Rodríguez from Osorno, Matilde Klein from Puerto Varas, Renata Hernández and Martina Vilugrón from Puerto Montt, Elena Vicencio and Fernanda Zúñiga from Castro. While in men the selection was made up of Aníbal and Mateo Barraza and Vicente Binder from Puerto Varas; Aquiles Cortéz and Cristóbal Pérez from Puerto Montt and Martín Romero from Castro.

The women’s volleyball team will be made up of Ángela Arenas, Pía Barría, Emma Brusoni, Rocío Cereceda, Colomba Del Valle, Rocío Poblete, Ignacia Riquelme and Belén Steinbrugge from Osorno; Matilde Monsalve, Laura Opitz and Verena Stolzenbach from Puerto Varas and Pía Alvarado from Puerto Montt. Meanwhile, in men the delegation is made up of Tomás Bascur, Tomás Galindo, Mathias Opitz and Maximiliano Reuse from Osorno, Juan Castro and Pablo Del Río from Purranque, Renato Barrera from Puerto Varas; Felipe Aguilera, Cristian Luengo, Fernando Molina and Francisco Veloso from Puerto Montt and Rodrigo Sandoval from Castro.

In the men’s basketball discipline, the athletes will represent the region: Martín Bravo and Nicolás Stolzenbach from Osorno, Vicente Araya, Sebastián Morales and Joaquín Westermeier from Puerto Varas; Vicente Almonacid, Matías Barrientos, Isaac Miralles and Jeremías Robles de Ancud, Luis Álvarez, Vicente Correa and Agustín Mansilla de Castro. As for the ladies, the selection is made up of Sofía Alarcón, Brenda Barría, Oliveria Eschmann and Amanda Guineo from Ancud; Krishna Domínguez de Castro; Sofía Hernández from Curaco de Vélez; Daniela Ojeda de Chonchi; Agustina Vivar from Puerto Varas; Maritxu Marianjel, Betsabé Pizarro, Isidora Sánchez and Agustina Velásquez from Puerto Montt.

Likewise, those selected in women’s soccer are Victoria Schulz from Puyehue, Colomba Vargas from Osorno; Verena Trautmann from Purranque, Rocío Bañares and Dominique Agüero from Río Negro; Isidora Godoy, Maite Almonacid and Sofía Ávila de Llanquihue; Yessenia Andrade, Valeria Guerrero, Ángela Mancilla, Darling Barrera and Constanza Soto from Puerto Varas; Nadiareth Soto de Calbuco; Catalina Villagrán from Los Muermos, Tamar Ovando from Puerto Montt, Amara Coronado from Ancud and Martina Canuman from Castro. Meanwhile, the men who make up the soccer delegation are: Joaquín Cárdenas from San Pablo, Alex Castro and José Rivas from Frutillar, Luis Rojas from Calbuco, Alfredo Cárdenas from Los Muermos, Ignacio Muñoz, Emilio Ascui and Martín Ojeda from Puerto Varas, Matías Adones, Byron Aros, Ian Morales, Clemente Parra, Danilo Menco, Manuel Escobar, Matías Contreras, Benjamín Aguilar, Joaquín Seiffert and Benjamín Gallardo from Puerto Montt.

The delegation of athletes traveled by bus this Saturday, November 11, at 8:00 a.m., from the Provincial Presidential Delegation of Chiloé in Castro, heading to the Province of Río Negro, Argentina. While the athletes from the Province of Llanquihue will leave at 12:00 p.m., from the IND Regional Directorate in Puerto Montt and those from the Province of Osorno, at 2:00 p.m. from 18 de Septiembre Street, in front of the Park.
