Asturias Absolute Judo Championship Sees Record Turnout and New Champions Crowned

The Jesús Suárez Valgrande Municipal Sports Center in Pola Lena presented an exceptional appearance to witness the Asturias absolute judo championship. The stands were filled to continue the competition with the most participation in recent years, with many judokas vying for medals and qualification for the sector phase that will take place next weekend in La Coruña. And the new system put in place by the team of selectors, with Cintia de Saa at the helm, made the maximum Asturian competition definitive.

Very good judo could be seen in the afternoon session in Lena, with a very distributed medal table in which he stood out with two golds in the men’s Judo Noreña-Berrón event, and with three in the women’s Judo Shensi. The new absolute champions of Asturias, from lowest to highest weight, respectively, are: in the men’s category: Álvaro Lara (Senshi), in -60 kg., Borja Tamargo (Judo Noreña- Berrón), in -66 kg., José David Monteserín (Oviedo Sport), in -73 kg., Mateo Solís (Óscar Fernanández), in -81 kg., Pablo Vigil (Judo Noreña-Berrón), in -90 kg., Osmel Sánchez (Cedelan), in -100 kg. ., and Jonathan Fernández (Asalia Beya), at +100 kilograms.

In the female category: Mireya Magadán (Senshi), in -48 kg., Nayara Cuervo (Senshi), in -52 kg., Claudia Lora (Sanfer), in -57 kg., Elisa Fernández (Avilés), in -63 kg. ., Melania Souto (La Calzada), in -70 kg., Raquel Arias (Senshi), in -78 kg., and María Rodríguez (Corujo), in +78 kg.. Judo Senshi led the medal table with four golds and three silvers, followed by Judo Noreña-Berrón, with 2 golds and 3 silvers, and Óscar Fernández, with one gold and three silvers.
