Ballon d’Or 2024: Uefa joins forces with France Football to organize the sporting event – International Football – Sports

Uefa and Groupe Amaury, owner of the France Football and L’Équipe media, announced this Friday an alliance to co-organize the Ballon d’Or gala from 2024, with the aim of reinforcing the stature and global reach of said awards, fostering a sense of unity and collaboration within the football community.

According to the official statement from the highest football body, the agreement establishes that Groupe Amaury remains the owner of the Ballon d’Or brand and “will continue to supervise the voting system, which will remain unaltered and independent”, and that UEFA will be in charge of commercialize global trade rights and organize the annual awards gala.

Likewise, the new awards of the established program were made public: Coach of the Year and Coach of the Year, maintaining in the list the Men’s Ballon d’Or, Women’s Ballon d’Or, Kopa Trophy, Yashin Trophy, Gerd Müller Trophy, Men’s Club Trophy the Season, Women’s Club Trophy of the Season and the Socrates Award.

Aleksander Ceferin, president of UEFA, took the opportunity to highlight the importance of being recognized with the “highest award”: “For almost 70 years, the Ballon d’Or has remained the most prestigious individual award in the world of football and is a testimony to the extraordinary skill, dedication and impact of the legends of the game and their enduring mark on the history of the sport.”

Aitana Bonmatí was this year’s winner, while Alexia Putellas took the award in 2021 and 2022.
