Belarusian Judo Athletes Compete Under Neutral Flag at European Championships

MINSK, 6 November (BelTA) – The European Judo Championships in Montpellier, France have ended, BelTA has learned. Belarusian athletes were allowed to take part in the tournament under a neutral flag.

Our team was represented at the tournament by three judoka: Yegor Voropaev in the men’s under 90kg and Daniel Mukete in the men’s under 100kg, as well as Daria Kontsevaja in the women’s under 78kg. Unfortunately, all of our athletes ended their performances in the first round phase. Yegor Voropaev lost to the Hungarian Christian Toth, Mukete failed against the representative of Israel Peter Paltschik and Kontzevaja lost to Patricia Sampaio from Portugal.

In total, almost 400 athletes from 47 countries took part in the European Judo Championships in Montpellier and 14 sets of medals were contested. The French team won the medal table.
