Brandon Aubrey Named NFC Special Teams Player of the Month for October

FRISCO, Texas – A day after winning the NFC’s weekly honor for special teams, Brandon Aubrey won another award. This time it is for the month of October.

Aubrey was named NFC Special Teams Player of the Month on Thursday for his stellar performances in the Cowboys’ four games during the month of October.

The kicker recently kicked two more field goals, including a 58-yarder, in last Sunday’s win over the Rams. That extended his streak to 18 consecutive field goals, tying an NFL record for most field goals made to start a career. Aubrey can surpass Travis Coons (18 in 2015) for the NFL record if he makes another field goal this weekend against the Eagles.

This month, Aubrey went 3-for-3 against the Patriots on Oct. 1, then 1-for-1 against the 49ers on Oct. 8. After the bye week, he went 2-for-2 against the Chargers, including the go-ahead field goal in the fourth quarter, and then kicked two field goals against the Rams.

Aubrey has not only made all 18 of his field goals, but also 17 extra points in a row after missing his first attempt in Week 1. He is third in the NFL in scoring with 71 points and leads the NFL in touchbacks on his kickoffs with 43.

Aubrey becomes the first Cowboys player in 24 years to win this monthly award and the fourth in team history, joining Jason Tucker (1999), Richie Cunningham (1997) and Chris Boniol (1996).

Aubrey is the second Cowboys player this year to win a monthly award, as Micah Parsons was named NFC Defensive Player of the Month for the month of September.
