Bundesliga, 12th matchday: Heidenheim and Bochum play a draw

1. FC Heidenheim – VfL Bochum 0:0 (0:0)

1. FC Heidenheim and VfL Bochum played out a goalless draw on matchday 12 of the Bundesliga. FCH started the game well, but the hosts were not in real danger of scoring for 90 minutes and Bochum also disappointed in their play for long stretches. After the draw, VfL remains in the bottom third of the table – still behind the newly promoted team from Heidenheim.

In the second minute of the game, Heidenheim’s Jonas Föhrenbach managed to play a cross to Eren Dinkçi after winning the ball, but his shot missed the goal. A free kick from Bochum shortly afterwards (6th) had no consequences and VfL was also unable to use Kevin Stöger’s pass to Takuma Asano (9th): Patrick Mainka successfully prevented the Japanese from finishing. Finally, Stöger’s long-range shot (23′) went next to the Heidenheim goal.

Even after the break it remained an even game. FCH goalkeeper Kevin Müller initially prevented a shot from Patrick Osterhage in the 53rd minute of the game before Heidenheim had a chance to score themselves. However, Tim Kleindienst’s low shot was deflected for a corner (58′). Shortly afterwards, Müller parried again – this time a shot from Bochum’s Bernardo (61′). The most promising scoring opportunity came shortly before the end: after a mistake by Erhan Mašović, Kleindienst was free in front of Bochum goalkeeper Manuel Riemann – but missed the late chance to score the winning goal (89th).
