The Japanese, who moved from Arminia Bielefeld to FC Augsburg before this season, celebrated his starting eleven debut for FCA after a long injury break (broken collarbone). However, this ended abruptly.
In the 22nd minute, Okugawa was knocked off his feet by Regensburg’s Bittroff in the Jahn penalty area. Okugawa initially remained lying there with his face contorted in pain and tried again after a short break in treatment. But not for long, the pain was too great: in the 30th minute the 27-year-old had to leave the pitch and Michel came into the game to replace him.
Regensburg keeps fighting its way back
Beljo converted the penalty to give Fuggerstadt a 2-1 lead. Beljo also took the lead after just a few seconds (1st), which Bauer equalized for Jahn (13th). After falling behind again, the third division team hit back again through Schmidt (38th), but substitute Michel gave FCA the lead again (40th).
After the substitution, it only took a few minutes before Beljo made it 4-2 for FCA again (51′). Substitutions then began on both sides, which affected the flow of the game. Shortly before the final whistle, the substitute homemaker made it 5-2 for Augsburg (82nd) - a little later it was over.
Even more goals were possible
For a long time Regensburg stood up to the Fuggerstadt players, who were two classes higher, and were unlucky with two aluminum goals (Schmidt, 35th, Kother, 81st). However, in addition to its five goals, FCA had other good opportunities, for example Beljo missed his fourth goal in the 67th minute.
Augsburg will be visiting 1. FC Union Berlin after the international break on November 25th. Regensburg continues the next day in the 3rd league against leaders Dynamo Dresden.
