Fasano-Casarano: fifteen days later, same emotions on the line

Two weeks after the mock draw in the Italian Cup, which occurred in full injury time and a simultaneous defeat on penalties, Fasano hosts Casarano again in the evening postponement of the championship coinciding with the All Saints’ holiday.

The unbeaten record of the home team, the only team in group H not to have suffered the shame of a defeat, will be put to the test by the visiting team, set up to compete at the top and try to win the championship, proof of which is their salary by mister Giuseppe Laterza, originally from Fasano and who has made many fortunes in his homeland, victorious in various championships and capable of ultimately bringing Taranto back to the professional championships, who landed in Salento together with several footballers with an important past in the professionals, Leonardo Perez and Nicola Citro above all.

The Fasano fans are aware that even in this season the main objective remains safety as soon as possible and the valorisation of the young players in the squad, then dreaming costs nothing and everything that comes is earned. Before the match, the tour of the pitch by Beppe Zarbano, old glory of Fasano football, protagonist of the triumphal ride that ended with the first historic promotion to C2 in the 87/88 season, brings the minds of the older ones back to the ancient glories.

The Casarano supporters, unable to follow their team in no more than 200 units (even if at a glance they look like at least 300), due to the restrictions on the maximum number of tickets now commonplace, are greeted by the whistles of the entire stadium, given that there is bad blood between the two fans.

Ready to go and in five minutes Casarano had a goal disallowed before taking the lead, needless to say, with one of his best men, namely Leonardo Perez, who took advantage of a short clearance from the home goalkeeper Roman Lazar, born in 2004 and sends its fans into raptures with whom it shares its joy under the sector dedicated to them.

The result and a territorial dominance by the Salento team means that they express themselves at excellent levels, with the hosts chasing, not only on the field, but defending themselves excellently with numerous clapping and chants in favor of the team and against Martina, a team that will be hosted in the next match at home for a heartfelt derby.

The first half ends with Casarano in control of the pitch and close to doubling their lead several times and with Fasano always on the defensive, repelling the attacks with quite a few difficulties.

The second half starts with the guests moving their center of gravity back and the hosts gaining more and more meters, gaining a superiority on the pitch which however remains sterile. The two fans continue, in contrast, in their incessant cheering with the Fasano people ready to remember Skrondo, an ultras who passed away in 2008 and belonged to the Ingrifati Perugiaa group famously friendly with Loosen up Fasano.

The match is approaching the end with the unchanged result of 0-1, when the referee indicates six minutes of injury time, annoying the man in charge of the overhead projector, the house manager, to whom they seem negligible and who in response earns the expulsion.

As a consequence of this, the injury time is corrected and now lasts seven minutes after the ninetieth minute and it is precisely in the ninety-seventh minute that Lucas Idoyaga, with a free kick from the edge, sends the ball to the intersection in the last available action, so much so that the game it will never resume again, exactly like fifteen days ago in the Italian Cup, when the celebrations, however, were in reverse order.

The teams stop under the section of their fans at the end of the match, receiving well-deserved applause in a match that has provided so many emotions, it must be said, until the last second.
