Private consumption in Mexico slows down before the end of the year, according to Inegi estimates.
The Timely Indicator of Private Consumption (IOCP) estimates a monthly growth of 0.2 percent in September, lower than the 0.5 percent registered in August.
Likewise, the report published this Thursday indicates that for October, private consumption in the country will have a contraction of 0.1 percent compared to the previous month.
If these data are confirmed, October would break a four-month streak of increases for the indicator.
The IOCP anticipates with opportunity the evolution of the Monthly Indicator of Private Consumption in the domestic market, one of the main pillars of the national economy.
Inegi anticipates this slowdown prior to the shopping and discount season with campaigns such as Buen Fin.
In its annual comparison, Inegi expects growth of 3.7 and 3.8 percent for private consumption in September and October, respectively.

The estimates would be lower than those recorded between June and August, which were between four and 4.3 percent.
