The world softball rankings were recently released by the WBSCthe international federation that governs both this sport and baseball. There is good news for Italy, and it speaks of a sixth place which has historic proportions for a great variety of reasons.
First of all, never had the Italian national team reached so high in the global rankings, and this in itself is a reason of merit for the Italian team. But not only that: it had never happened that a European selection reached so high. In essence, Italy definitively breaks a barrier thanks to the move from eighth position to sixth.

The United States is always in the lead, followed by Japan and Puerto Rico: a podium unchanged compared to the version of July 30th. It should be noted that what counts a lot, in this case, are the eighth place points (171) earned by the Italians at the Under 15 World Cup.
This is a situation which is a marked contrast to what can be seen in the baseball rankings, where Italy, largely following the disaster of the European Championships, fell from 12th to 14th place; a situation which, at present, prevents the dispute of the Premier12.
