Jason Kidd’s Historic 14 Turnovers: A Quadruple-Double Negative

On November 17, 2000, Jason Kidd produced one of his least glorious career performances with no less than 14 turnovers in a single match! The second highest total in League history.

When he saw the Knicks arrive at his home in Phoenix, Jason Kidd certainly did not expect to make his mark on modern NBA history. The one who already has three All-Star stars will honor his reputation as Mr. Triple-Double by collecting 18 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists. Except that this time he adds an additional line to the table with no less than 14… lost balls! So this is what we call a quadruple-double negative. A classic that Russell Westbrook has released a few times in recent years.

14 lost balls is not an NBA record because it belongs to former Pacer Mike Bantom, who lost the ball 16 times against the Bullets in 1982. Kidd thus joined John Drew on the second step of the podium.

Embarrassed by the tenacious defense of the Knicks all evening, Jason Kidd preferred to blame the men in gray after his performance. Comments reported by the Los Angeles Times.

“They were terrible. I hope I get fined. We are not a soft team. We deserve the same whistles as the New York Knicks.”

Two months later, this same Jason Kidd will go for another performance with 10 lost balls. During the 2000-2001 season, Jason finished as the NBA’s leading passer with 9.8 assists per game but he was also the second player in the number of turnovers with 3.6 per game. Creation but a lot of waste to go with it, we know quite a few who followed in his footsteps.
