Latvian Bobsleigh Team Sets Goals for Upcoming Championships and Announces Potential Crews

“I am aware that the world championship is on the German circuit. I don’t know why, but there is no European Cup stage, which has been the case in other years, and there is no international official training week. Basically, the Winterberg track is blocked. This means that the three Germans are stable. As for the leading crew, I will be happy if we are in the top six with the idea that we can fight for something higher. As for the other crew, you have to be realistic. There is still time to live until February. I to him [Jēkabu Kalendu] I’m not looking at this season, but in the long term, because he’s really a promising guy. I don’t want to rush many things, even though he is a bit ahead of time, last year he went as far as he shouldn’t have,” its head coach Sandis Prūsis outlined the goals of the Latvian bobsleigh team, also expressing his prediction about the potential results.

“The line-up is big. Due to the larger number of athletes in the European Cup last year, the service staff was also slightly larger. This year, the lineup is a bit bigger than usual. Why? Because we combined the European Cup and World Cup teams. In numbers, it looks as follows – ten athletes and five service personnel,” Sandis Prūsis outlined the overall composition of the Latvian bobsleigh team.

The main coxswain of the Latvian bobsleigh national team Prusis also revealed to the portal “Sportacentrs.com” the potential crews of two and four, adding that this is what they would look like if the competition took place on November 5: “The first crew would be Emīls Cipulis, Dāvis Sprinģis, Matīss Miknis and Krists Lindenblatt, while the second crew would be Jēkabs Kalenda, Dāvis Kaufmanis, Lauris Kaufmanis and Mairis Kļava. Cipulis and Miknis are in the duo, but the other duo would probably be Kalenda and Dāvis Kaufmanis.”
