Major Restyling and Modernization of Ice Rink in Pinè: A New Era for Speed Skating

The countdown begins for the restyling of the Ice Rink in Pinè. Although excluded from the Olympic locations, the Pinetano skating center will remain a point of reference for the speed skating movement and will be at the center of a significant modernization work which will also involve the adjacent ice rink. Among the innovations illustrated in the presentation press conference also a balcony overlooking the ring dedicated to speed skating, a new 30×60 skating rink and a multifunctional gym for archery. Work will start next March and close on 31 December 2025.

In illustrating the project, the mayor of Baselga di Piné Alessandro Santuari reiterated his desire, having overcome the disappointment of the exclusion of the center from the Olympic venues, to confirm itself as the center of gravity of the sport of ice and beyond and to be able to have a facility capable of hosting large-scale sporting events in the future. The intervention will be divided into three lots: the first involves the ice rink for which the floor of the rink will be redone, the refrigeration system, the electrical system and the engine room will be adapted; the second concerns the 400 meter outdoor ring which will be completely redone and connected to the indoor ice rink with a tunnel; finally the third lot, the largest, involves the construction of a new multipurpose gym for the training of athletes (also used as an indoor facility for archery) and a new hockey stadium right next to the side along the existing runway. The center will therefore be completed with a new entrance hall, new connection spaces and, serving the speed ring, a balcony on the long side, a new control room for the race judges and a staircase for the public on board track. The planned investment is 29.5 million euros.
