Maneuver, Meloni calls together the social partners. Landini: ‘I’ll be in the square, I can’t stop the trains’ – Companies

The summons comes as a surprise, mid-afternoon. For everyone, even for the ministers who will sit alongside him. Giorgia Meloni calls the social partners again to Palazzo Chigi to talk about the budget law – a process already started and publicly armored several times – and infuriates CGIL and UIL who on Friday, as scheduled for some time, will be in the streets in the Northern Regions to strike against the maneuver. Alongside her there will also be Matteo Salvini (as well as Giancarlo Giorgetti and Marina Calderone), who for days has been engaging in a head-on battle with the unions over transport strikes and is once again threatening to be seized for the 24-hour stoppage announced for Monday by the unions Basic.

Purely political move, also to balance the activism of the ally, provocation to the unions: interpretations of the call which has also shocked the parties are multiplying in Transatlantic. But no one, in reality, can say the reason for the new meeting. “Budget Law” and “any other business” are written in the convocation letter. So much so that, jokingly, some hope that there is no “bad news” to justify such urgency. But the employment numbers, Meloni recalled during premier time in the Senate, marked a series of “records” compared to the “slow” pace of the past. Indeed, the attack on the unions, “curiously there was a fairly limited mobilization” in the years in which wages decreased and jobs did not increase. While now from “6 general strikes in 10 years” we have gone to “2 per year. Good news”, the stab. Maurizio Landini, who will be at the Turin demonstration, responds with equal irony: “We don’t have the gift of ubiquity and we can’t even stop trains”, says the leader of the CGIL while Pierpaolo Bombardieri (will be in Brescia) recalls the precedent “of the first May” and points the finger at a “further sign of lack of respect for those who will go on strike for a day”. Shortly afterwards, the two will take pen and paper to formally write to Palazzo Chigi asking to move the meeting to the evening, and also giving their availability “Saturday or Sunday”, to allow the participation of all delegations. Not only to that of the CISL which promptly made it known that it will be there instead and will bring its “requests to improve the maneuver”.

No problem of overlaps because the union led by Luigi Sbarra will demonstrate, alone, on Saturday morning in Rome. The president of Confindustria, Carlo Bonomi, will also be absent, as he is busy elsewhere, but he will send the general director of the confederation. However, many are betting that tomorrow, if nothing else, the way out of the mess regarding the pensions of a group of public administration employees, including doctors, will be illustrated: “The government has announced that it intends to review the law, in particular on health workers, so that those who access the old-age pension or have a long contribution period are not penalised”, Meloni explained to the senators, without however completely resolving the issues that the Mef, Ministry of Labor and Health have been discussing for days.

Exempting all categories from the restriction, also to avoid running into constitutional problems, or saving only the white coats, loosening the restrictions for others, or even freezing the measure for two years, are some of the ideas on the table. The intention, explains Claudio Durigon, Northern League undersecretary for Labour, would be to “generalise the rule a bit for everyone” but “the preliminary investigation phase” has not yet been overcome. We will work all night to present a solution to the table which will then be translated into an amendment to the maneuver. Which will come at the hands of the government or speakers given the zero amendments diktat that the majority, in the end, respected. There are, of course, a series of changes signed by Fdi (by Domenico Matera) but these are the requests of the legislation committee. Poorly written rules, to be fixed. “Drafting, cleaning up the text”. Which was one of the reasons that lengthened the time it took for the maneuver to reach Parliament (two weeks after the approval): and which now has to be done again, 34 times.

For further information Agenzia ANSA Salvini, on the transport strike common sense or precept – News – Ansa.it “I don’t accept 24 hours of blocking public transport because it would be chaos. If they apply common sense I won’t intervene, but if they think of stopping the whole Italy for 24 hours I will not allow it and I will do everything the law allows me to do.” (HANDLE)
