Description of relevant features for this lesson

Concrete actions based on the recorded characteristics of the initial situation

Student 13-14 year old students. First time that my students will receive lessons from me.

When someone is injured or cannot participate, I give them the position of equipment man, coach or referee.

Class group – group dynamic

It is a class of approximately the same number of boys and girls. Some girls still need a little push.

Make clear agreements with the students from the start. It is not always an easy age when it comes to listening. So as a teacher you have to be on your toes here.

Class group – content bound

The students have already received the basics in the previous lessons. They know how to hit the feathers.

Further develop the techniques and competition formats. Offer exercises in the zone of proximal development so that students can achieve a successful experience.

School/situational data

The lesson is given in the Sportoase of Londerzeel. The students leave the school by bicycle. A bicycle has been arranged for everyone. We have half a gym in the sports oasis. We are going to work the width of a basketball court. The nets are also hung this way.

Use the Half Hall. The students always call me when I am giving an explanation. Position yourself well as a teacher. Students stand in a semicircle in front of the teacher. Never speak with your back to the students. The badminton net is hung across the width of the room.

The students take responsibility in all movement situations through rules,

Warm-up: feather fight

Game description: The students are divided into 4 groups at the net. There are the same number of feathers in each of the 4 compartments. On signal, the students will try to throw the feathers to the other side as quickly as possible. The team that has the most feathers on its field at the end loses.

Game aim: The aim is to have as few feathers as possible on your field at the end of the rally.

Rules:

You don’t throw 2 feathers at the same time. You also don’t pick up 2 feathers at the same time. You throw the feathers above the net.

Media: 23 feathers, badminton net

Working method: spread over 4 areas in the room, warm-up game

Lesson phase 2: Tape game (storage)

Game description: Everyone stands in pairs facing each other at the net. So we work in groups of 2. One ll holds his racket and feather and the other holds a belt. The teacher will first give the students a demonstration of serving in badminton. The intention is therefore that the lln will carry out a raise. The players with the hoop can decide where in the field they want their partner to succeed. That’s where they put the hoop. Afterwards, positions are switched.

Game intention: The aim is for the partner to serve in the cushion with the correct technique.

Variation:

The student with the strap can continue to hold the strap and it will become a bit easier. The student just tries to catch the feather and we work without a band (if it really doesn’t work)

Organization:

Transition: when the students are still working on the previous exercise, I prepare the hoops for the next exercise. I call all the students to me in a semi-front circle and explain the following exercise. Again I first demonstrate this with one of the students (someone who is not attentively cooperating).

different movement situations.

LESSON PHASE 3: COMPETITION FORMS

Game description:

Students perform the service. We intend to put this into a competition format. It is a 1-1 situation, where students play a match on half a field. So they play a match in which every rally must start with a lob serve. Afterwards they are free to choose their shot.

Intent of the game: The purpose of the game is for them to learn to apply the lob serve in a match situation.

II-LIOP-good

Taking into account their capabilities, the students develop fitness based on basic motor properties: strength, flexibility, endurance, speed, coordination, balance, form tension and core stability.

II-LIOP-good

The students independently practice simple movement tasks (individually and in groups).

Hammer grip Release and squeeze the grip Forehand grip Left front right back Hold the shuttle with the cap down Swing the arm from behind the body extended through the legs to the front

Supporting roles:

Students who are injured can take over the role of coach and check whether the exercises are performed correctly.

Transition: I quit the previous game. I calmly explain the next exercise. Maybe I can make a tournament out of this. Everyone plays for 2 minutes. Winners move to the right and losers to the left.

II-LIOP-good

When performing different roles, the students apply the principles of fair play, team spirit, responsible behavior and deal positively with wins and losses.

LESSON PHASE 4: competitions, tournament

Game description: The students each play a 2-minute match of 1vs1. They are free in their strokes here. When the person has won, they move to the left and when the person has lost, they move to the right. Whoever has the most points at the end of the 2 minutes wins.

Game aim: the aim is for the students to score as many points as possible by dropping the feather on the opponent’s half. And ultimately end as far to the left as possible in the width of the room. (maybe let less strong ones start on the left)

Fun fact in class (for those who are the first to start with the service, drop a feather from the net…)

Rules:

Netball counts except on serve. When a ll succeeds outside, the point goes to the other. Everyone takes turns for the serve.
