Monaco’s Roca Team Continues Dominance in Betclic Élite with Win Over Nanterre

A week after seeing its series of victories in the Championship come to an end in Nancy, Monaco got back on track this Sunday, winning (91-82) at home against Nanterre. The Roca Team therefore consolidates, not without difficulty, its first place in the Betclic Elite ranking, with a record of ten victories for a single defeat.

Things did not look so simple for Sasa Obradovic’s players, who faced – and beat – Asvel in the Euroleague on Friday evening (80-70), which left them little recovery time. However, it was the Monegasques who started the match best, taking off in the second quarter (27-14), and swinging at the break with a significant gap (+17), leading 53 to 36, thanks in particular to the 12 points and 5 rebounds from Jordan Loyd during the first period. In the absence of Élie Okobo, the American showed himself, finishing the match with a whopping 29 points (7 rebounds, 2 assists), one of the best individual performances of the Betclic Élite season.

But Nanterre had a better start to the third quarter, starting with a 7-0 in the first minute, and making up a total of 8 points on their opponent during the 10 minutes. Finally, despite the great performances achieved by Ibrahima Fall Faye (20 points, 9 rebounds, 2 assists) and Juhann Begarin (21 points, 2 assists, 2 rebounds), as well as the pressure put by Nanterre on Monaco until the last minute ( 86-82 at the start of the last 60 seconds), the Roca Team ended up winning, like a boss.
