NBA – Tyrese Haliburton: From “Loser” to Winner

NBA – Tyrese Haliburton is tired of losing. After his time with Team USA, he says he wants to quickly get rid of his emerging label of “loser”.

Tyrese Haliburton is still struggling to cope with the fourth place of Team USA, of which he was a part, during the last World Cup. Especially since for the leader of the Pacers, it’s a new collective failure…

“I still haven’t gotten over it” he assures The Athletic. ” It’s frustrating. Everyone was upset, of course, but I haven’t won anything since my sophomore season in college. (with a U19 world title). So it really opened my eyes to stuff in my life, honestly. I was like, ‘I need to change my habits and stuff, because I’m tired of losing.’ I’m not a loser, that’s not what I do. »

His objective this season is therefore very simple.

“I’m not going to let this continue to define me. Everyone asks me: ‘What are your individual goals this year?’ I just want to win, because I’m tired of losing. It’s been frustrating the last few years, but what’s happened with the United States has opened my eyes. I can’t continue like this in my life. »

While he would really like to be part of the Olympic team next year, Tyrese Haliburton notably assures that his experience at the World Cup has allowed him to take a step forward on the defensive level.

“It really helped me take a step forward on defense. To be more concentrated away from the ball. I really feel like I’ve improved as a defender, on and off the ball. However, I had a few complicated matches, especially against Germany, where I felt like I wasn’t good defensively, but overall, I think I made a jump. This is what I enjoy the most and what I want to continue doing. »

However, Tyrese Haliburton still has work to do because as Stephen Noh shows, DeMar DeRozan and the Bulls systematically attacked him late in the game during their recent victory.
