Nick Chubb Undergoes Successful Knee Surgery, Out for Rest of Season

CLEVELAND – Star running back Nick Chubb of the Cleveland Browns underwent surgery to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee, an injury suffered in the second game of the season in Pittsburgh and which will keep him out gap for the rest of the season.

This is the second surgery performed on Chubb’s knee since he was injured following a low tackle during a rushing game against the Steelers on September 18.

Browns officials had hoped the injury would not be as serious, but during the first surgery it was discovered that he had in fact suffered a torn ACL. The Browns believe the second operation was successful.

The Browns expect to see Chubb return to action at some point during the 2024 season. Chubb previously recovered from an injury to the same knee while playing with the University of Georgia.

Dr. James Voos, the team physician, performed both surgeries. According to Browns officials, Dr. Voos reported that Chubb’s recovery has progressed “very well” since his initial surgery two months ago.

It was anticipated that the injury to Chubb, four times elected to the Pro Bowl, would hurt the Browns (6-3). However, the team was able to keep its strong ground attack going thanks to contributions from Jerome Ford and Kareem Hunt. The latter signed a contract with the Browns two days after Chubb’s injury.

The Browns host the Steelers (6-3) this week in a duel of great importance in the standings of the North section of the American Association.
