The Council of State confirmed on Friday evening the travel ban on Bordeaux supporters at the Charléty stadium for the match against Paris FC.

The Council of State confirmed on Friday evening the travel ban on Girondins de Bordeaux supporters for the Ligue 2 match against Paris FC scheduled for Saturday at the Charléty stadium, rejecting an appeal filed by a group of supporters.

The National Association of Supporters had asked the body, seized in summary proceedings, to suspend the order taken Thursday by the Ministry of the Interior to prohibit the arrival of fans of the Bordeaux club, for this match of the 15th day of L2 .

She maintained in particular that this order “ignores the freedom to come and go, freedom of association, freedom of assembly and freedom of expression of visiting supporters».

Risks of disturbances to public order

This decree prohibits individual or collective travel “any person claiming to be a supporter of the Girondins de Bordeaux Football Club or behaving as such» from 00:00 to midnight Saturday «between the municipalities of the Gironde department, on the one hand, and the municipalities of the Ile-de-France region, on the other hand».

This decision is particularly motivated by risks of disturbances to public order, the ministry recalling incidents which accompanied the travel of Bordeaux supporters in 2021, 2022 and 2023.

The judgment also mentions relationships “marks of tension» between supporters of the two teams since they both played in L2, that is to say since the current 2022-2023 season, as well as a “historical antagonism» between the Girondin supporters and those of Paris Saint-Germain doing “fear that Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) supporters will take advantage of this opportunity to do battle with their Bordeaux counterparts».

It is also based on the fact that “law enforcement is strongly mobilized to face the terrorist threat» and that they “will be particularly mobilized on the day of the meeting by securing several events».

«The Council of State rejected our request in a mind-blowing order in which it is explained that Girondins supporters are a public danger when traveling and that PFC supporters are violent at home.», Reacted the group of supporters.

The PFC, which hosts the Charléty stadium in the south of Paris, has introduced free ticketing for 2nd division championship matches since the beginning of November. However, you must book these free places in advance on the club’s website.
