BarcelonaThe Generalitat has signed Pere Macias as commissioner for the transfer of Rodalies, as reported by the SER channel and confirmed by ARA. The signing comes after the president of the Generalitat, Pere Aragonès, announced on Monday the desire to incorporate people with proven experience into this commission. And Macias is because until now he worked for Adif and Renfe as coordinator of the Neighborhood Plan 2020-30, which establishes all the investments that must be implemented.

The integral transfer of Rodalies is one of the agreements reached by the Republicans with the PSOE in exchange for supporting the investiture of Pedro Sánchez. Thus, Macias will be in charge of pilot the negotiations with the new Minister of Transport, Óscar Puente, to comply with the pact between Republicans and Socialists.
In fact, Macias is a great infrastructure expert who has worked under the orders of different political colors. He was Minister of Public Works between 1997 and 2001 in the last government of Jordi Pujol, Later, he was director of the tramway union project along the Diagonal with Ada Colau, who incorporated him into her team from 2016 to 2018 At the end of that year, the then Minister of Public Works, José Luis Ábalos, signed him to coordinate the actions of Renfe and Adif to improve the Rodalies service.
Aragonès had already announced on Monday during the interview with TV3 the creation of this figure in the Ministry of Territory led by Ester Capella. “The transfer has a timetable: in the first half of 2024, the company that will have to do it must be promoted,” he stressed. And the first step will take place this Thursday with an extraordinary meeting of the executive that will serve to approve the appointment of Macias as commissioner.
With the signing of Macias, the aim is therefore to materialize the Rodalies transfer agreement that Pedro Sánchez has committed to. And it is that beyond the political commitment, the tangible transfer of Rodalies will not be imminent and will last during the current legislature. An agreement that involves the creation of a public company, which has been named Rodalies Catalunya, which will operate independently of Renfe and which will have a majority stake from the Generalitat, although the State will have to give its approval in the most important decisions important through a “qualified majority”.
