Plans for New Dojo in Hazebrouck’s Bernadette Room with Significant Federation Subsidy

The municipality of Hazebrouck plans to transform the Bernadette room, near Notre-Dame church, into a new dojo next year.

A new dojo could see the light of day next year, in the Bernadette room, around the Notre-Dame church. A former parish hall, today used for family events via the Amicale du Nouveau-Monde, and polling station during elections.

A significant subsidy from the federation

This project, whose budget is estimated at 160,000 euros, remains conditional on the final subsidy agreement from France Judo (the new name of the French judo federation). It could finance the project up to 80%. The transformation work would make it possible to accommodate the two judo clubs (the Judo-club and Flandres Judo Hazebrouck) and aikido which share the current Pierre-Dehondt dojo (with sometimes recourse to the Coubertin complex for FJH).

Target, September 2024

The project aims to provide them with larger and more comfortable changing rooms; a sanitary area; storage space and a shared office. The room would also be connected to district heating. The municipality hopes for a response from France Judo soon so that the future dojo will be operational at the start of the school year in September 2024.
