As a result of the roof of the classroom at SDN 1 Kedungdawa collapsing, hundreds of students were forced to study in a place that was far from comfortable. Noisy sounds are an atmosphere that they must enjoy while carrying out learning activities.

According to one of the teachers at SDN 1 Kedungdawa, Titi (43), teaching and learning activities in the multi-purpose building belonging to the local village government only took place today. He said there were more than a hundred students who were forced to study in that building.

“There are 56 students studying here (the multi-purpose building) in class 2 and 49 in class 1,” said Titi when met during her break, Monday (20/11/2023).

Titi said, if we look at capacity, the multi-purpose building is still enough to accommodate hundreds of students. It’s just that teaching and learning activities become uncomfortable because of the noise.

“Here it is not conducive (for teaching and learning) because the sound echoes. The sound is buzzing so it is less effective and conducive,” he said.

Principal of SDN 1 Kedungdawa, Muhamad Arifin, said that as many as 70 students studied in the GOR belonging to the local village as a temporary location for the learning process after the classroom roof collapsed.

“The Kedungdawa village gym has become a temporary place for KBM (teaching and learning activities) for grade 1 and 2 students because the roof collapsed because of the rain,” he said, Monday (20/11/2023).

Seeing this condition, he emphasized that the parents of the students at the school had no objections and understood the condition of the damage to the school roof which had collapsed so that it could not be used.

“Thank God, the parents and the school committee understand this condition,” he said.

He revealed that the learning process was running normally as usual even though there had to be partitions in the GOR for classes 1 and 2.

“Students’ learning is normal even though they have to be close to the GOR, and the distance from the school to the GOR is also not far,” he explained.

He hopes that roof repairs will be carried out soon so that students can get representative learning.

“Hopefully the roof can be completed quickly,” he explained.

Disdik Looking for Repair Budget

Separately, the Head of the Education Service, Ronianto, admitted that he was still looking for a budget that would allow for immediate repairs.

“We want repairs to be carried out as soon as possible, it would be a pity if the children have to study in the GOR as a temporary place,” he explained.

Until now, his party is still calculating the amount of budget needed to carry out repairs.

“Budget requirements are still being calculated by consultants, so we are targeting quickly,” he concluded.
