The match against Panama was difficult and only in the last quarter were they able to unblock themselves with the Venezuelan team scoring 16 points, compared to 11 for the rivals. An effort that coach Seonae described after the commitment as a tribute to street basketball, in which emphasis is placed on ‘face to face’. All this because of the courage that the Venezuelan national team showed to quickly get on top of the opponent’s half of the field and attack.

“Today (against Panama) we paid tribute to the street basketball of Venezuela,” were the words of Daniel Seoane, collected by journalist Raúl Zambrano Cabello.

And Venezuela not only faced the Canaleños in that last quarter, but also gave a plus to the defense in the paint, to be able to limit the opposing attacks. The South American quintet had up to 49 rebounds, including 16 in the aforementioned fourth quarter.

However, the Creole offense converted seven of 23 field goals in that final quarter and 30 of 80 throughout the game, a demonstration of what was a challenge with good defense and timely offense, thanks to quick transitions that occurred as a result of that defending.
