The end of the All Saints’ Day holidays was productive for SOM Badminton, which hosted Leopold Sardaformer club player turned professional coach, for two days of development.
Friday November 3 was dedicated to young SOM Badminton players, and Saturday November 4 to adults. Young and old trained around fun workshops offered by coach Léo.
Around twenty players were able to benefit from the coach’s wise advice over the two days. Thanks to Léopold for coming!
Departmental Inter-Club Championship
Sunday November 5 took place the first day of the Inter-Clubs Départementaux (ICD) championship. SOM Badminton has two teams entered in the championship this year: team 1 in division 1 and team 2 in division 3.
Each day of ICD, a team participates in two matches against two opposing teams. A match consists of 8 matches: 2 men’s singles, 2 women’s singles, 2 mixed doubles, 1 men’s doubles and 1 women’s doubles. The goal is to win as many matches as possible to win the match.
Team 2 of SOM Badminton (DR)
Team 2, led by its captain Léa, traveled to Saint-Affrique, where they faced a team from Marvejols in the morning. The Millavois win hands down 7 to 1! In the afternoon, the matches were closer and the meeting with a team from Saint-Affrique ended in a 4-4 tie.
Team 1, led by its captain Clémentine, played at home at Puits-de-Calès. The Millavois faced team 1 of Saint-Affrique and ended with a 5-3 defeat, after close matches.
In the afternoon, the opposing team came from Olemps and again the matches were close. The match ended in a 4-4 tie.
Congratulations to all the team players: Léa, Louna, Sarah, Axel, Florent and Sébastien for team 2 and Élodie, Pauline, Sigrid, Clémentine, Baptiste, Léonard and Fabrice for team 1.
Next meeting on November 26 for the second day of ICD, which will be held again in Millau, at Puits-de-Calès.
