S’port d’Abord: the port and estuary of the River d’Abord come alive with sporting, nautical, cultural and educational activities. A weekend for the whole family
Saturday November 11 and Sunday November 12, the port of Saint-Pierre and the estuary of the Rivière d’Abord, between downtown Saint-Pierre and the Terre-Sainte district, will host the event “S’port d ‘On board “. This event is organized in partnership by OSTL, the city of Saint-Pierre, the management company of the port of Saint-Pierre (SPL OPUS) and Destination Sud Réunion. Its objective is to introduce new activities to residents, to highlight water sports that can be practiced all year round and to raise awareness of environmental protection, while celebrating the beauty of the region. Dive into the heart of this adventure and explore a multitude of opportunities for the whole family.
A rich program for the whole family:
• With a constant commitment to offering events that meet the expectations of the entire Saint-Pierre community, the two-day ‘S’port d’Abord’ program presents a variety of activities, including sports and non-sporty, designed for the enjoyment of the whole family. Saturday November 11, from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. – Only the port area will host activities. A full day of aquatic and land entertainment awaits you: sea trips, segway, diving, inflatable structures, jet ski, zumba, kangoo jump, hip-hop, flyboard, electric quad, creators’ walk, sea rescue demonstrations, and many others. Whether you are a fan of water sports, dancing or outdoor challenges, you will find what you are looking for among these varied activities.
• Sunday November 12, from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. – All activities will be spread across the two event areas.
o Saint Pierre Port Area All Saturday activities will be available again on Sunday. This will give you another chance to
enjoy your favorite activities or discover new ones.
o Rivière d’Abord Estuary Area On Sunday, go to the Rivière d’Abord estuary for a day dedicated to sports and discoveries in harmony with nature: zip line, kayak, paddle, mountain bike , tree climbing, boat trips, discoveries of new ecological transport, makeup workshop, sailing, climbing, slacklining, archery, and many other activities will be offered to you for a day of unforgettable adventures.
An event between land and sea: environmental protection as a hyphen
S’port d’Abord has deep roots in its territory, thus offering organizers the opportunity to devote several workshops to the preservation of the local environment. These interactive sessions and discussions are open to everyone, regardless of age. For the OSTL, this commitment to environmental awareness is part of an eco-responsibility approach that it has been fostering for several years and integrates it into its public events.
• the BioMA association will be present to present the Diversity Fresco, a collaborative workshop which invites you to discover what biodiversity really is: how we define it, what it allows and what degrades it.
• the Réunionnais Coral Observatory will raise awareness about the preservation of coral in the Saint-Pierre lagoon.
• the GCOI association will be present to introduce you to the bats present in the area. These animals are an essential part of the island’s diversity.
An intrinsically family event
Beyond offering a very large number of activities accessible from a very young age, S’port d’Abord will offer free daycare on Sunday November 12 for children over 3 years old, in the Estuary area. The CCAS of Saint-Pierre will offer daycare for children over 3 years old.
Activities not to be missed:
• A giant zumba at 9:00 a.m. in the Rivière d’Abord Estuary area.
• Sea rescue demonstrations with dogs by CCARETA (Club Canin Aquatique Réunion).
• Collective sports sessions (Zumba, pilates, hip-hop, etc.) to be found on the “podium” in the Port area on Saturday and Sunday. Check times and meeting locations for more details.
The big game fishing competition is canceled by the association of friends of the sea, according to information communicated Tuesday evening. A priori, the weather conditions forecast for this weekend do not allow for the smooth running of this event.
