Tanishka Nandal Advances to Girls’ Singles Third Qualification Round at Yonex Sunrise 30th Smt Krishna Khaitan Memorial Tournament

Maintaining her cool in a tense match, Chandigarh youngster Tanishka Nandal Wednesday ended the challenge of Kritika Thakur of Punjab to move into the girls’ singles third qualification round on the second day of the Yonex Sunrise 30th Smt Krishna Khaitan Memorial All India Junior Ranking Prize Money tournament being organised by Express Shuttle Club Trust at Tau Devi Lal Sports Complex, Sector 3.

The match started with both the players matching each other before Nandal claimed the opening game 21-18 to take a 1-0 lead in the match. The second game saw Nandal taking control and the Chandigarh youngster won the game 21-8 to enter the third qualification round. In another match of the same category, Riya Choudhary of Maharashtra scored a 21-15, 21-6 win over Pakhi of Himachal Pradesh to enter the third qualification round. Choudhary claimed the opening game 21-15 before outclassing Pakhi 21-6 in the second game to end the Himachal Pradesh player’s challenge.

It was a winning day for Vaishnavi Katam Reddy of Andhra Pradesh as she carved out a 21-10, 21-6 win over Bhumika Adlakha of Delhi. Reddy won the opening game comfortably with a margin of 21-10 before claiming the second game 21-6.

In the boys’ singles third qualification round, Eshaan Sharma of Punjab ended the challenge of Uday Rana of Chandigarh with a 21-18, 21-9 win. The opening game saw both the players not giving an inch to the opponent before Sharma won the game 21-18. The second game saw the Punjab youngster playing with control before he won the game 21-9 to seal his spot in the fourth qualification round.

In another match of the same category, Shubhankar Dutta of Assam scored a 21-14, 21-16 win over Vaishveek Raj Singh of Uttar Pradesh while Harshan Vamsi Velu of Tamil Nadu eked out a 21-12, 21-14 win over Daksh Mathur of Delhi to enter the fourth qualification round.

In another match of the same category, Sai Prasad Teegala of Telangana scored a 21-8, 21-14 win over Anuj Setia of Haryana. Teegala won the opening game 21-8 before claiming the second game 21-14 to enter the next qualification round.

Earlier in the day, the pair of Dhyan Santosh and Disha Santosh of Karnataka scored a 21-10, 21-16 win over the pair of Deepanshu Kuwadiya and Kavya Swami of Rajasthan to enter the third qualification round. In another match of the same category, the pair of Akul Malik and Nimar Kaur Virk of Chandigarh scored a 21-12, 21-10 win over the pair of Bhavishay Ahlawat and Neetee Barak of Haryana to enter the next qualification round.
