Tennis: Swiss Olympic champion Belinda Bencic pregnant with her first child at 26

A new tennis player is preparing to become a mother. Swiss Belinda Bencic, 14th in the world and Olympic champion in Tokyo, announced on Friday that she was pregnant.

“We are expecting our little miracle soon!” We can’t wait to meet you,” she wrote in a post on her Instagram account where she appears with her partner, their dog and two little baby slippers. Several players on the WTA circuit have already sent her words of congratulations, including Elina Svitolina, herself a mother for a little over a year, Ons Jabeur and Paula Badosa.

Aged 26, Belinda Bencic, who rose to 4th place in the WTA rankings at the start of 2020, won the WTA 500 tournaments in Adelaide 2 (Australia) in January and Abu Dhabi (UAE). United Arab Emirates) in February this season.

At the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, she gave Switzerland one of its three gold medals, beating Czech Marketa Vondrousova in the singles final. She also won silver in doubles alongside Viktorija Golubic, beaten by two other Czechs, Barbora Krejcikova and Katerina Siniakova.
