There is a lot of talk about the level of competition in tennis today and a good thermometer to measure it is to review how many points were necessary in previous years to get into the ATP Finals. The eighth classified in the race to Turin has been Holger Rune, who had to reach a really high figure, such as the 3,460 points that allowed him to obtain his place. Proof of how expensive it has been to obtain that privilege is that in only three editions, since 2009, more points were needed. It was in 2014 when the requirement was highest, with Milos Raonic having to obtain a whopping 4,440 points, followed by the editions of 2015 (Nishikori, with 4,035) and 2010 (Roddick, with 3,665).
