On Friday, the Polish national team will play the last match in the European Championship qualifiers. Our rival will be the Czechs, who are currently the runners-up of Group E with 11 points. The team’s training camp has been underway since Monday, preparing for the aforementioned match against the Czech Republic and a friendly match against Latvia. On the first and second day, at press conferences, we listened to the statements of Michał Probierz, who explained, among others: reasons for appointing individual players or the hierarchy of goalkeepers in the team. The coach also attended a meeting with journalists on Thursday afternoon. Apart from him, Karol Świderski also appeared in the hall. The American Charlotte striker was the first to answer questions and then went to training.
Then Probierz was asked about the career of the national team striker, whom he has known for many years. – Do you advise him to return to Europe? – Dawid Szymczak, a Sport.pl journalist, asked the coach. – These are always difficult topics when it comes to advising and what a player should do. Today we are dealing with a team of people who work with the players. They have agents, people including: from the media or other things they cooperate with – began Michał Probierz.
– If he asks me (Świderski – ed.) for my opinion, I will definitely tell him that it would be definitely better for him to play in Europe. But we also have to take into account that each player has his own opinion and the right to make a choice – added the coach, emphasizing that according to him, Świderka should develop his career in European teams.
A few minutes earlier, the 51-year-old spoke highly of the Charlotte player, whom he met when he started his adventure with football in the SMS Łódź team. – When I didn’t have a job, I helped run classes at SMS Łódź. Two or three players caught my eye, which I observed and wrote down in my notebook. I knew that if I worked in the club, I would take him (Świderski – ed.). You can see that it was a good choice – admitted Michał Probierz. The men met at Jagiellonia Białystok in 2014-17, when Probierz was the coach.
In the recently ended MLS season, Karol Świderski played 31 games for Charlotte, scoring 12 goals and providing five assists. The 26-year-old scored 40 goals in all competitions. For the last two weeks, Świderski trained together with the Śląsk Wrocław team, due to the end of the competition in the United States, which he mentioned at the conference, thanking coach Jacek Magiera.
