Every two years, FIFA organizes the U17 Football World Cup. In 2023, the tournament will take place in Indonesia, where 24 national teams will fight for the junior title from November 20th to December 2nd.

Brazil won the last edition of the tournament on home soil in 2019. In 2021, the U17 World Cup in Peru was canceled due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The record winner is Nigeria with five titles. Germany, on the other hand, has never been able to win the U17 World Cup.

The German U17 national team qualified for the World Cup this year as winners of the U17 European Championship. The team of national coach Christian Wück surprisingly won the Junior European Championships in Hungary in the spring.

The preliminary round of the World Cup begins on November 10th and ends with the last group games on November 18th.
