Vigo Badminton Team Makes History at Spanish Championships

Cartagena experienced great success for Vigo badminton and for the Club Escola Rosalía Peixes Vimar in particular. Two of its youngest players, Telma Ruso and Álvaro Gómez, were proclaimed champions of Spain in the under 11 category. The Vigo team gave the big surprise by beating the prior favorites, the Galicians Xoel Álvarez and Inés Lemos, in the mixed doubles category. , by 15-11/16-18/15-8. Álvaro Gómez would rise again to the box after achieving the bronze medal in the men’s singles category after falling in a tough semi-final against the Andalusian CB Arjonilla, Pedro Carmona, by 15-7/19-17.

Also another from Vigo and trained in the Rosalian youth academy, Martín Mosquera, who currently trains at the Andalusian Center for Sports Technology in Huelva, achieved a new medal. He went in the under 19 men’s doubles category with his partner, Jesús de Burgos from Oviedo, after losing in the semifinals to Rodrigo Sanjurjo and Daniel Franco by 21-13 / 21-17.
