Wassermanis wins the bronze medal in the prestigious World Cup shooting finals / Article

Only the top 12 athletes in the ranking of the International Shooting Sports Federation, as well as the world championship medalists in each Olympic shooting exercise, compete in the World Cup finals in Doha. Latvia will be represented in the finals alongside Vasermanis by Agate Rašmane and Lauris Strautmanis.

In shooting with a pneumatic pistol, Strautmanis repeated the Latvian record in the qualification with 586 points and was second, while Vasermanis took 5th place with 582 points, the Latvian Shooting Federation informed. Prize-winning places were distributed in the final of the exercise, with eight winners of the best eight results in the qualification starting.

The victory in the final was secured by last year’s European champion German Robin Walters, while Italian shooter Paolo Monna earned silver. Wassermanis with a score of 220.3 points withdrew before the last round.

Strautmanis won 5th place in the exercise final. Rashmane took 10th place with a high score – 574 points.

Rashmani is still waiting for the start of shooting with a small caliber pistol in the final of the World Cup on November 23 and 24.

For the first time, three athletes represent Latvia in the World Cup final. Previously, only Latvia’s most titled shooting grandmaster Afanasiis Kuzmins, bench shooter Boriss Timofejevs, as well as Rašmane in 2021 and Emīls Wasermanis in 2022 had reached the finals.
