Wesley Sneijder and his brother Jeffrey will be at the helm of DHSC in the coming period, the Algemeen Dagblad reported on Friday evening. The duo takes over from Mark Verkuyl, who was sent away due to disappointing results.

On Thursday evening, the players’ group was told that Verkuyl had been suspended. Assistant coach Jeffrey Sneijder led the last training before the match against Huizen, after which Wesley also joined the training session.

The Sneijder brothers will be on the bench for the match in the Fourth Division on Saturday. Verkuyl has achieved varying performances in the past four months with his team, which occupies the penultimate place in the rankings.

It is currently unclear until when Wesley will remain involved as a trainer with the DHSC first team. The club from Ondiep only won two matches, drew twice and lost seven matches.

In conversation with the AD, captain Achraf Nejmi said that Verkuyl’s dismissal is not entirely unexpected. “You know that something like this can happen in football if things don’t go as they should.”

“People often point to the trainer. The numbers don’t lie. We are not where we should be, but we are all to blame for that. The trainer, but also certainly the players. We all reach our level not,” Nejmi said.

Verkuyl is the fifth trainer in five and a half years to leave Ondiep. Cesco Agterberg, John Vink, Gert Kruys and Rick Testa La Muta also did not serve their contracts or decided to resign themselves.
