Away from the TV cameras of “Wetten,dass..?”, ZDF made a nasty joke at the expense of Bastian Schweinsteiger. Which was received with varying degrees of success.
Offenburg – An absolute sports dream couple had the honor of saying goodbye to Thomas Gottschalk (73) at the “Wetten,dass..?”: The married couple Ana Ivanovic (36) and Bastian Schweinsteiger (39) took a seat on the show couch together . The former world-class tennis player, the former world-class footballer and the entertainer legend Gottschalk (in a somewhat unusual outfit) verbally passed the balls to each other in a quick-witted manner, with Ivanovic in particular causing laughter by giving supposed instructions from the private household to her Basti in German listed. Gottschalk, on the other hand, caused many TV viewers to roll their eyes due to uncertainty about the names.
ZDF jokes away from the “Wetten,dass..?” cameras on X at Bastian Schweinsteiger’s expense
Of course, the jokes on TV were all harmless. What the people on the “Wetten,dass..?” couch in Offenburg didn’t notice was that ZDF made a comparatively nasty joke on X (formerly Twitter) at Bastian Schweinsteiger’s expense. After the two came on stage, the TV station’s official account tweeted: “A legend on ‘Wetten,dass..?’! And her husband, a former footballer.”
Does Schweinsteiger find it so funny? The ex-footballer has plenty of humor, but being reduced to being his wife’s appendage might not suit him very well. After all, the former tennis world number one and the 2014 soccer world champion, who celebrated a series of successes with FC Bayern, both enjoy legendary status.
ZDF joke about Ana Ivanovic and Bastian Schweinsteiger is received differently
The gag was received differently by users. Hundreds of likes for the ZDF contribution were collected in the first hour, as well as several dozen comments. “Bravo ZDF,” writes a viewer with heart emojis and a laugh. “Oh ZDF? “Since when has it been so funny?” wonders another and demands “more of it”.
Others don’t share the humor as much. “ZDF tries to be funny” and “Oh, they’re funny on ZDF these days” or “Today the interns aren’t just concerned with the sound,” complain others. “Stolen from ARD,” writes one. In fact, gags of this kind are anything but new. But especially with Thomas Gottschalk’s “Wetten, dass…?” farewell, it probably doesn’t matter much whether jokes are new. Bastian Schweinsteiger has to put up with social media ridicule every now and then, for example with his bicycle photos. And Alexander Bommes recently speculated about a possible “marriage crisis among the Schweinsteigers” – not seriously of course. (lin)
