After a desolate start, the “Flying Scotsman” was initially down 0-2 sets, but then turned the match around and led 3-2. But Dolan stayed cool, equalized and prevailed 3-1 in the seventh and all-deciding set.

Dolan played a better average than Anderson (94.01 to 93.38 points) and was clearly ahead, especially in terms of checkout rate (43.2 to 31.6 percent).

Meanwhile, Rob Cross can continue to dream of his second title. The Englishman easily defeated number nine seeded Welshman Jonny Clayton 4-0 in the round of 16. In the round of the last eight, the 2018 world champion will meet his compatriot Chris Dobey on New Year’s Day, who clearly defeated defending champion Michael Smith on Friday.

In addition to Cross, the Englishmen Scott Williams and Dave Chisnall Englishmen also reached the quarter-finals at the home game in the “Ally Pally”.

Williams, who had beaten Martin Schindler in a dramatic match the previous round, won 4-1 against Australian Damon Heta. Chisnall won 4-2 against Northern Irishman Daryl Gurney. Number eleven on the seeding list defeated Gabriel Clemens in the third round.
