Bursa Uludağ Basketball Team Faces Visa Issues for FIBA Women’s Europe Cup Play-Off Rematch

WALL – Bursa Uludağ Basketball team had 5 people go to the FIBA Women’s Europe Cup play-off round rematch, which was planned to be played in England yesterday, due to visa problems.

Bursa Uludağ, who lost the first match 77-53, lost 122-63 in this match, and since there were no substitute players due to the technical staff and other players not being able to obtain visas, the players had to play for 40 minutes each.

STATEMENT FROM THE CLUB

In the statement made by the club, it was stated that the visa applications of the athletes were made quickly on December 3 after the matchup was determined, and said, “Since we were notified that this matchup was made, we started the applications for the visa procedures of our athletes on December 3rd, since the match will be played in England. London Lions Basketball Club “An invitation letter was issued to us regarding the match to be played today. With this invitation letter, we applied for our visa both on the website and by physically going to the British Consulate.”

In the statement, it was stated that in order to speed up the process, contact was established with the Turkish Basketball Federation officials and the British Embassy was also contacted and it was important for the visa applications to be completed by the day of the match. The following statements were included:

“Although all the procedures were carried out within the time limit, the federation and the embassy of the country where the match will be held have informed us that they will not help us and will not obtain our visas, causing us today’s grievance. All of our athletes’ passports are valid in all European countries, and since England has a visa requirement, 5 of our players, who have visa exemptions, will not be able to participate in the match. Even though we sent our team to London for the first time, this situation was not accepted. Despite all our efforts, our team cannot participate in the match to be held today due to the fact that the visas of our other players, except for 5, were not approved by the British Embassy and were delayed. All our efforts and efforts to prevent this situation from happening are inconclusive. “We would like to inform the public that we are not responsible for the material and moral damage we will incur due to participating in the match with only 5 players today, and that we will continue to work with all dedication on behalf of our team.” (SPORTS SERVICE)
