The Spanish player Carolina Marín qualified brilliantly this Friday for the semifinals of the Badminton World Tour Finals that are being held in Hangzhou (China) until this Sunday after closing against the number two in the ranking, the Chinese Yu Fei Chen , his pass without losing any game.
The current runner-up in the world has arrived strongly at the last event of the season and managed to get into the crossroads after dominating their group with a firm hand, where not only did they win their three matches, but they did so without giving up a single set.
Not even the number two in the ranking, Yu Fei Chen, who had also beaten the Huelva player, without losing a set, in their last five matches, could stop her in the fight for who would be the winner of the group. Both demonstrated their quality and had a close match that went to the Andalusian’s side 25-23 and 24-22.
Marín seemed like she would take the first game comfortably when she dominated 10-3, but the local player reacted and managed not only to turn the score around but also put herself in a good position to close the set. The Chinese had an optimal 17-20, but she did not take advantage of it and the Spaniard, with her strong character, ended up taking the set. The second was much closer from start to finish and Chen had a return on two occasions to force a third, but Marín was unwavering and completed her victory.
This great victory joins the two previous ones that had already given the Huelva player a pass to the semifinals before this match against the American Beiwen Hang (21-18, 21-10) and against the also Chinese Yue Han (21-11 , 21-12).
