The Azencross in Loenhout was on the program on Friday, where Sanne Cant and Mathieu van der Poel managed to come out on top. There was immediate havoc among the men.
After all, half of the peloton crashed to the ground after the starting signal. The jury decided not to intervene and half of the riders were immediately counted out. Florian Vermeersch was among the victims and grabbed his elbow with a painful grimace. Hopefully the damage will be limited for him.
Update 30/12
Florian Vermeersch was one of the victims in the massive crash in Loenhout, but the Belgian seems to have gotten away well, despite the fact that he was visibly in a lot of pain. For example, his elbow was swollen after the fall, but Het Laatste Nieuws reports that there is no fracture. The consequences therefore appear to be limited, although official confirmation must still follow.
