Dennis Schröder and Maxi Kleber: Olympics, NBA Records, and Giddey Affair Updates

Dennis Schröder has once again spoken out about Maxi Kleber and the Mavericks forward’s possible participation in the Olympics. There are also new details in the Giddey affair. All news in the update.

Kleber and Schröder continue without discussion

NBA professional Maxi Kleber has announced that he wants to withdraw from the German national team until further notice. The reason for this is, among other things, his bad relationship with Raptors star Dennis Schröder.

In July, he criticized Kleber’s nomination for the World Cup squad on the grounds that the Mavericks center would not fully commit to the team. Because he did not feel “fully welcome,” Kleber then canceled his participation in the World Cup. “It was clear from the start that it wouldn’t have been right – and then the decision was made. You don’t have to worry about the rest,” explained the 31-year-old.

“I also said in the summer that I think I would bring more unrest than stability or help. And if that’s the case, then I’d rather stay away from it – for the simple reason that the team’s success is more important to me,” Kleber continues. The national team chapter is over for the time being, but he wants to be active again with the Dallas Mavericks and hopes for a quick comeback. When he met Dennis Schröder in the NBA, apart from a brief congratulation, there was no further discussion between the two. Schröder himself recently showed insight in an interview and explained that he had used the wrong words in the summer. Maxi Kleber would be good for any team – he’s not above doing the dirty work either. Schröder also did not rule out Kleber taking part in the Olympics.

Whether the two will actually be on the court in Paris 2024 is more than questionable.

NBA record for the Mavericks

The Dallas Mavericks set a historic record in the NBA on Saturday night. In the game against OKC, the franchise trailed 87-111 in the fourth quarter before going on a record run. Within a few minutes, Dallas scored 30 points in a row and turned the score to 117:111. Despite the record, the team from Texas failed to keep the lead over time and had to admit defeat 120:126.

Since play-by-play recording began in the 96/97 season, the 30-point series is the longest run without allowing an opponent’s basket ever in the NBA.

News in the Giddey case

The situation surrounding Josh Giddey seems to be becoming increasingly clear. According to reports in the Herald Sun, his affair with an underage girl began two years ago. Accordingly, the girl is said to have entered a nightclub with a false ID and met Giddey there.

Several sources reported that it was just a one-time thing and not a long-term relationship. Giddey broke off the relationship with the girl as soon as he found out that she was still in high school.

This can be an important detail in court. Defense lawyer Neil Shouse said the Giddey case can be successfully argued if the girl actually claimed to be over 18 and was carrying a fake ID.

“In short, if a reasonable person would not have had reason to believe that the minor was under 18, the rape charge should be dismissed,” Shouse continued.

Most recently, the affected girl and her parents refused to cooperate with the authorities. Giddey himself is said to have described the incident to OKC officials two years ago.
