The football game between the New Orleans Saints and the Detroit Lions (28:33) was overshadowed by a bad scene. In the second quarter of the NFL game there was a collision with consequences: a referee was seriously injured.
Saints running back Alvin Kamara fell on the sideline while sprinting after being touched by an opponent. He collided with a referee on the sidelines – and accidentally broke his leg.
The referee (part of the chain crew who operates the 10-yard chain and down markers on one of the sidelines) screamed in pain. Helpers were with him immediately. He was then taken away from the stadium on a stretcher.
