Euro 2024: 24 teams, 16 qualified… Understand everything about the group stage regulations

That’s it ! We know all the groups which will form the group stage of Euro 2024 in Germany, with the exception of the play-off teams. The Blues will face Austria, the Netherlands and a team that is not yet known, and will obviously aim for qualification.

The first two teams from each group will qualify directly for the round of 16. In the event of a tie on points between two teams, it is first the direct confrontation between these two teams which will be used to decide between them. If these opponents have drawn, then it is the goal difference that will count, followed by the greatest number of goals scored.

The four best third-place finishers

The six winners and the six second-placed groups will therefore qualify for the round of 16, and will be joined by the four best third-placed teams. These four complementary teams will be selected according to their number of points, then according to the goal difference.

If France finishes first in group D, it will face the team having finished in second place in group F. It could therefore find Portugal, the Czech Republic, or the last play-off which will form group F (Georgia, Luxembourg, Greece or Kazakhstan).

If the Blues finish in second place in group D, they will challenge the second in group E, made up of Belgium, Slovakia and a play-off (Bosnia-Herzegovina, Ukraine, Israel or Iceland).
