The third division football match between Borussia Dortmund II and Preußen Münster has been canceled due to the discovery of what the police said was a suspicious object in the stadium.
“It is an empty plastic tube sealed with tape. There was never any danger to those present,” the Dortmund police said on Wednesday evening on X, formerly Twitter.
BVB had previously written that the decision to cancel was made “in close coordination between the clubs, the referees, the DFB and the responsible police authority”. The police had the object inspected by an expert in the empty stadium.
According to the clubs, the item was found in the guest block of Dortmund’s Rote Erde stadium, which is right next to the BVB Bundesliga stadium.

The game was actually scheduled to kick off at 7 p.m. “An alternative date has not yet been set,” said Dortmund.
