Former 1860 Munich Star Abderrahim Ouakili Passes Away at 53

Former Lions professional Abderrahim Ouakili is dead. He died at the age of 53 after a long illness. This is reported by the portal “Die Blaue 24”.

Ouakili began his career at youth club FUS Rabat in his native Morocco before moving to SV Maroc Frankfurt. In 1992, the 14-time international moved to Germany. The offensive player played most of his games for FSV Mainz 05. There he scored 33 goals in 121 games and contributed 15 assists. In addition to Mainz, Ouakili was also active for Karlsruher SC (49 games). In addition to 183 second division games, the Moroccan international played over 40 games in the first division with the Munich Lions.

Under coach Werner Lorant, he made a total of 42 appearances between 1997 and 1999, playing together with well-known ex-professionals such as Jens Jeremies, Manfred Schwabl, Horst Heldt and Olaf Bodden.
