The Frenchman Yohann Auvitu took care of the first two hits, the third was added by the American Willie Raskob. “We won, I helped with the goals. I have to be satisfied,” smiled the French defender, who scored a goal for the first time in the Czech extra league.

And twice. Both goals were very similar, and Vítkovice’s joy was preceded in both cases by a shot from the blue line that flew through a group of hockey players and stopped just behind the back of Karlovy Vary’s Dominik Frodlo. “The boys screened well there,” he praised his teammate Auvita.

The defender with experience from the national team or from the NHL came to Vítkovice at the beginning of October, but did not come out for the first match in the jersey of last year’s semi-finalist of the playoffs due to an ankle injury from training, but only in the second half of November. “It was complicated. I didn’t have an engagement, I didn’t play for a long time, and when I came here, I got injured right away. But I worked every day and maybe the bad thing is gone,” explained Auvitu.

In the first seven matches in the Vítkovic jersey, he scored three assists, he had to wait until the sixth match against Litvínov for his first win in the extra league. Two more games to go for the first goal. “It took me a while to get the hang of it. But we are still at the beginning and the season will still be long,” confided the 34-year-old defender, who could easily celebrate a hat-trick against Karlovy Vary.

However, he did not take advantage of a huge chance in the third twenty-minute period. “The chance was there, but on the other hand, I’m probably not quite here since scoring goals. I am also happy for the two goals. It was a good opportunity, but also an excellent save by the goalkeeper, credit to him,” smiled Auvitu.

It wasn’t until the home team’s fourth goal that a Czech hockey player signed, albeit with a German passport. The final shape of the result was given by Marcel Barinka, who scored two points for a goal and an assist against Karlovy Vary and improved his record in Vítkovice to eight points in eight games.

“In the situation we’re in, it doesn’t matter who scores goals or who collects points,” smiled Jiří Veber, a member of the Vítkovice coaching team. “The important thing for us at the moment is that we gave them, we followed up on the gains from the previous matches (Litvínov 6:2 and Hradec Králové 2:3 in extra time) and added three very valuable points to the table,” continued Veber .

His counterpart, Karlovy Vary coach David Bruk, found no reason for at least a partially positive assessment after the fourth defeat in the last five games. “We needed these points, but also the home one. Vítkovice were better, that’s why they won,” he muttered to himself.

“We were worse in all aspects and that’s what the result looks like. It was a relatively even game until half way through the game, but then we got the second goal and there was no going back. We now have more losses than victories, we have to say it and come back in a better state after the rep break,” emphasized forward Vít Jiskra, the scorer of Karlovy Vary’s only goal.
