French NBA Players: A Season Update

There are fourteen of them this season. Fourteen French players to play in the NBA. We expect varying fortunes for everyone, from the rising superstar (Victor Wembanyama) to future veterans (Nicolas Batum) through the arrival of interesting young shoots (Bilal Coulibaly, Ousmane Dieng…) or confirmed leaders (Rudy Gobert). Fourteen Frenchies who will promote bread and calendos all season long, but above all fourteen Frenchies who will try one more push before the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. This week? Sidy Cissoko re-emerged with the Spurs, Killian Hayes didn’t have a win for Christmas, Victor Wembanyama is having a bad December and Rudy Gobert is dominating everyone. Among others.

# Victor Wembanyama (San Antonio Spurs)

Victor Wembanyama is a bit down this holiday season. Last week’s victory against the Lakers was a flash in the pan, and to the big defeats were added this week health concerns since Wemby only played 22 minutes over the entire week. A rest match against the Bucks, a quick passage against the Bulls and a problem during the warm-up in Dallas… we hope that New Year’s Eve will be festive because on the field it’s not really a party in San Antonio.

Victor Wembanyama’s stats this season in the NBA: 18.5 points at 43.5% shooting including 27.9% from parking and 77.4% from shots, 10.7 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 1.4 steals and 3 blocks in 30.2 minutes

# Rudy Gobert (Minnesota Timberwolves)

A huge broth taken by Joel Embiid, because Rudy Gobert remains a human being like any other. For the rest ? Three victories, collective and individual domination, very interesting body language and still this favorite status in the race for the ROY trophy. Rudy Gobert says it himself, he is in the form of his life, he has never been stronger.

Wolves @ Heat: 9 points at 3/8 shooting and 3/4 shooting, 16 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals and 2 blocks in 35 minutes Wolves @ Sixers: 8 points at 3/4 shooting and 2/2 shooting shots, 9 rebounds, 1 assist and 2 steals in 24 minutes Wolves vs Lakers: 15 points at 6/12 shooting and 3/6 shots, 13 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal and 3 blocks in 37 minutes Wolves @ Kings: 21 points at 10/13 shooting and 1/2 shooting, 17 rebounds, 1 assist and 2 blocks in 39 minutes

Rudy Gobert’s stats this season in the NBA: 12.8 points at 61.6% shooting and 61.2% shooting, 12.3 rebounds, 1.23 assists, 0.8 steals and 2.3 blocks in 32, 3 minutes

# Bilal Coulibaly (Washington Wizards)

He slowed down a bit after his big week last week, and we will especially remember his entry tah Didier Dinart at the end of the match against the Blazers. Bilal Coulibaly is the kind of soldier you send to the front lines, and Bilou does it with a smile.

# Nicolas Batum (Philadelphia Sixers)

Hornets @ Pacers : DNP
Hornets vs Nuggets : DNP

Frank Ntilikina’s stats this season in the NBA: awaiting download

# Rayan Rupert (Portland Trail Blazers)

If we had to define the NBA version of the Dolce Vita, it would probably not be the week of December 18 to 24 of Rayan Rupert’s 2023-24 season.

# Sidy Cissoko (San Antonio Spurs)

He played his first “real” NBA game last night against the Mavs, when the Spurs were 30 behind, of course, but let’s not spoil our fun. Comfortable in the G League and very capable in the NBA, Sidy hopes to be able to integrate Gregg Popovich’s rotation for the second part of the season. Lost for lost, might as well please the French fans, right?
