The Aurina Valley is preparing to celebrate one of the most anticipated events of this start of the season. In the late afternoon on Saturday the Klausberg Vertical will award the first tricolors of the winter. All the best national performers of the only up and a large Austrian delegation are expected at the starting line, which will contribute significantly to raising the level of the competition.
Two departures are scheduled. The first to shoot will be the young people (5.30 pm at the intermediate stage). Immediately afterwards (6pm) at the Sonnen valley station it will be the turn of the absolute sector. Awaiting the latter is a 2.8km route with 600m of positive altitude difference. The under 20, 18 and 16 race will instead start at the intermediate stage and will retrace the final part with a development of 1.7km and 400 m d+. For everyone the same arrival at the top of the Monte Sonnen station, located at 2,000 meters above sea level.
«The first kilometer is very fast, along forest roads and will allow the competitors to pace themselves in view of the central stretch where the slopes are significant… in Mountain Attack style – Manfred Reichegger in his role as organizer confided to us -. Here it will be important to manage your energy well since the last 800m will still have soft slopes and will allow you to sprint ahead of the finish. Consequently, the youth race will also have a very quiet first part, that kilometer and a half very steep and the last 800 all to push. I would say a very fast race, I think for the seniors it will be around 20, 22′”.
