At around 08.30 WIB Jay and several other people who were about to be sworn in went up to the fourth floor of the building. The swearing-in of Indonesian citizens then began at around 08.55 WIB.
The swearing-in ceremony for Indonesian citizens was led by the Head of the DKI Jakarta Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, Ibnu Chuldun.
“For the sake of the Almighty God, I renounce all my loyalty to foreign powers, acknowledge, submit and be loyal to the United State of the Republic of Indonesia, Pancasila, and the Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia in 1945 and will defend it earnestly and will carry out my obligations which the state has imposed on me as an Indonesian citizen with sincere writing. May God help me,” said Jay when taking the WNI oath.
Jay is the seventh naturalized player in Shin Tae Yong’s coaching era. Previously there were Jordi Amat, Sandy Walsh, Shayne Pattynama, Rafael Struick, Ivar Jenner, and Justin Hubner.
Next, Jay will take care of the Indonesian identity card and passport. After that PSSI will propose to transfer the federation from KNVB to PSSI as the final process.
If FIFA accepts the federation’s transfer, Jay will be able to defend the Indonesian national team. This also means that Jay has the opportunity to appear against Vietnam in the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers in March 2024.
