On the 27th, the Korea Badminton Association announced the results of the 2024 badminton national team selection competition held at Seosan Citizens Gymnasium in South Chungcheong Province from the 21st. A total of 38 players were selected after a week of intense competition among 109 players, including 58 in the men’s division and 51 in the women’s division.
First of all, Ahn Se-young (Samsung Life Insurance), ranked No. 1 in the women’s singles world rankings, will wear the Taegeuk mark without a qualifying round. The association has established a policy that players ranked 16th in the singles world rankings and 8th in doubles will be automatically selected.

In particular, Kim Min-seon is considered the ‘second Ahn Se-young’. Min-seon Kim recently won two gold medals in singles and doubles at the 2023 Thailand Junior Championships. She has been outstanding in her international competitions, including sharing the doubles title with her sister at the Asian Championships last year and winning a bronze medal in her singles.
Ahn Se-young became the first middle school student representative in the 2017 badminton national team selection competition.
